Have you read all the Harry Potter books? Which one is your favorite? Why?
Yes, I've read them all; my favorite was definitely Goblet of Fire, since I think the whole Tri-Wizard Tournament was such a cool idea, and the different challenges were so much fun to read. Also, GoF was so much darker than the previous books, what with the graveyard scene, Cedric's death, and the way the Death Eaters were regrouping. And it's hackneyed, but the new romances that Rowling hinted at (both Harry/Cho and Ron/Hermione) were a lot of fun.
Which character is your favorite? Which one is your least favorite? Why?
Luna would be my favorite character, since she's something of an oddball and a loner, but at the same time she's clearly smart (being in Ravenclaw) and loyal to her friends. Her commenting on the Quidditch match in HBP alone makes her awesome. My least favorite character would be Dolores Umbridge, because she's a caricature of every idiotic, self-important administrator-type I've ever known...the way she meddled in Hogwarts and abused her power really drives me up the wall.
Do you like the Harry Potter movies? Why or why not?
I do like them, since they allow you to get your HP fix in between book installments. Even if they're not entirely loyal to canon, I realize that the books are pretty large and complicated, so you can't expect every detail to be included. Also, the movies are pretty amusing, and do a good job with the characters without including all the scenes from the books.
If you were given an assignment from Prof. Snape that was due in three days, how would you go about doing it? Why?(Procrastinate, a little at a time, not at all, etc.)
I would put it off until the last day, and then work frantically late into the night to finish. I don't hate learning by any means and I do well in school, but I still procrastinate, or at least do the work in small increments.
Which Quidditch position (if any) would you play if you went to Hogwarts? Why?
Hmm. I'm not athletic at all, and I'm scared of heights, so they'd have to be desparate to have me on the team. But if I was, I suppose I'd be Seeker, since I'm small and light, and could concentrate on finding the Snitch instead of being in the bustle of the game.
What would you see if you looked into the mirror of erised? Why?
There would be me and a gigantic library, most likely. I've always loved to read and discuss books with friends. And reading is even more important to me now that I'm in college and don't have much time for pleasure reading. Sniff.
What do you believe in most? Would you die for it? Why (or why not)?
This will sound silly, but I'd say freedom of speech, since I believe it's the most basic and important freedom for people to have. Even with an imperfect government or society, having the freedom to criticize, protest, etc. allows for the possibility of change and improvement. Yes, I would die for this cause if it would allow others to keep freely exchanging ideas and so on. One death wouldn't be such a loss when you balance it against losing something so precious.
How do you act when you go to a party? Why?
When I do go to parties (which is not very often), I'm either a wallflower or I stick with people I know. I'm not very good at mingling with strangers or striking up conversations, since I'm pretty shy. But I can have fun in smaller groups with people I'm familiar with.
What house do you think your best, and least suited for? Why?
I'm least suited for Slytherin, definitely, because I'm not ambitious, selfish, scheming, anything like that. As for what house I think I would fit in, it would be either Ravenclaw (since I love learning and reading) or Hufflepuff (since I'm shy, honest, loyal to friends). I'll have to say Hufflepuff, though, because when it comes down to it, being fair and honest is more important to me than acquiring knowledge.
What form would your Boggart take? Why?
It would probably be having a bunch of people watching me (as in, on a stage or something) if that makes any sense. Performing in public or speaking in front of a bunch of people terrifies me.
How do you apply yourself to your work? Explain.
Once I get down to it, I work pretty steadily and thoroughly and won't stop until I'm sure I've done a good job. This is especially true if it's something I'm interested in, or if it's important (as in a final project or something).
What is thicker, friendship or blood? Why?
I'd have to say friendship, because sometimes I think family members are just people you happen to be living with, especially if you don't see eye-to-eye or if family relations are awkward. Friends seem more likely to be able to help you through difficult times, since you're probably the same age and will understand where you're coming from more easily.
What qualities of each of the houses do you believe you possess? Explain.
For Slytherin...I suppose I'm smart, as Slytherins are supposed to be, but the same quality applies to Gryffindor and Ravenclaw. I'm brave when I need to be, as Gryffindors are; and as I said above, I love to learn and read, as Ravenclaws do. Also, I'm very loyal to friends and pride myself on being honest, like a Hufflepuff.
You and a few other people are in a bad situation, not all of these people are your friends. You can find a way out for yourself, but no-one else. Fight (for the others) or flight(save yourself)? Why?
I would fight for the others, since you should try to help people when at all possible, even if they're not necessarily your best friends. Also, it would be hard to live with myself if I just ran and left the others in trouble; and I'd like to think that they would do the same for me.
